It's likely that as you enter the new year, you're expecting to follow through on one or several resolutions made to yourself. One may be to get your personal finances in better shape, and another may be to get yourself into physical shape. Luckily for those considering both, opting for healthy diet and exercise can actually help you save some serious money at the same time. Don't believe me? Just consider the following examples of how losing weight is sure to result in money saved:
Less spent on insurance: There's no doubt about it – a healthier life will lead to cheaper insurance quotes. Your height-to-weight ratio influences the premiums you pay when it comes to life insurance, health insurance, and even car insurance. Get to a healthy weight and pay less for insurance as a result.
Less spent on groceries: This one is obvious. The less you allow yourself to eat, the more money you'll save on groceries. Even if you're buying pricier specialty health items, the overall cost will still be lower due to lowered portion intake. Not to mention, those avoided candy bars and potato chips add up to big savings over time too.
Less spent on fuel: This is a nice by-product of diet and exercise due to two things. One, a loss of 25-50 or even more pounds of weight will result in less fuel used when you drive your car, as weigh influences gas mileage. Secondly, increased walking and cycling will mean less driving.
Less spent on cooling costs: It's scientifically sound: those with more fat take longer to cool down. During the summer, this means those who are overweight likely use more of the air conditioner in both their home and their automobile. Reduce this costly dependence by shedding the weight that causes it.
Less spent on healthcare: Needless to say, those in better shape tend to avoid the health issues that plague those who let themselves become overweight. Costly maladies such as diabetes and back problems can easily be avoided by staying in shape, let alone even more serious problems such as heart disease and stroke.
As you can see, saving money by losing weight is far from a far-fetched idea. If both your personal finances and your waistline need adjustment, give diet and exercise a try. It's sure to result in the success of two news years resolutions.
