Budgeting For Your Wedding
October 12th, 2011 | Budget, Money, Personal Finance, wedding
There is no other way that this can be said: Weddings can be really expensive! Of course, when you think about it, there are different degrees of expensive, and it is important for you to figure out where you and your significant other fit in on this scale. For some people, $10k may be the top of the top when it comes to budget while other couples can stretch their budget to $30k without feeling overwhelmed.
When it comes to planning your wedding budget, it is going to be important for you to be accurate as well as consistently informed. It is going to be vitally important for you to be aware of how much money you actually have, while you are also being informed of the costs that are involved with actually planning a wedding. After all, if you believe that you are going to be paying around $20 for every guest, but you later determine that the figure is more like $50 per person, then your budget is going to fall apart very quickly.
When you are putting together a budget for your wedding, the following tips are going to prove useful for you:
1 - As it was noted above, you are going to need to sit down face-to-face with your partner so that you can decide first and foremost how much money you will be capable of spending for your wedding. You can have a wonderful wedding no matter what your budget is, so the important thing is being realistic about your budget so that you can move forward on the planning and preparations. Remember to include all of the money that you are contributing as well as whatever may be contributed by the parents of the bride and the groom.
2 - Once you actually begin to receive quotes, be prepared to potentially make changes to your budget as this may be necessary. There is absolutely nothing wrong with reworking your budget if something doesn't make sense anymore.
3 - Make sure that you are leaving room in your budget in order to accommodate unexpected expenses. You are going to want to have a cushion that you can fall back on if you should happen to need to.
4 - Do not simply include the best of absolutely everything in your budget. You do not need the best flowers, the best cake, the best venue and the best dress. Just find what works for you and works for your budget and you should be able to have a stunning wedding.
Planning and following a wedding budget is vitally important. Too many people get overwhelmed by their wedding plans and end up spending far more than they needed to. While your wedding should be enjoyable and extravagant, there is no reason to break the bank or put yourself in debt in the process.
